Writing Level 1

Motivational, functional writing tasks set in workplace contexts. All the Functional English tasks in this resource are set in three workplaces – a hotel, a supermarket and a factory. This helps make the activities both real and relevant to students. Knowledge about each workplace builds cumulatively as students progress through the levels.

Tasks at Level 1 include editing text, improving spelling skills, sequencing instructions, using a map, using more complex punctuation, using spelling rules, writing directions and instructions. A student checklist, comprehensive teaching notes and answers are included as well as overhead transparency templates for group work.
