Number Level 2

Motivational, functional number tasks set in workplace contexts. All the Functional Maths tasks in this resource are set in three workplaces – a hotel, a supermarket and a factory. This helps make the activities both real and relevant to students. Knowledge about each workplace and confidence with number builds cumulatively as students progress through the levels.

Tasks at Level 2 include adding and subtracting large numbers, calculating equivalent fractions, understanding basic algebra, understanding expressions, multiples and factors, using exchange rates and calculating profit and loss. A student checklist, comprehensive teaching notes and answers are included as well as overhead transparency templates for group work.
