Measures shape and space Level 1

Motivational, functional measure shape and space tasks set in workplace contexts. All the Functional Maths tasks in this resource are set in three workplaces – a hotel, a supermarket and a factory. This helps make the activities both real and relevant to students. Knowledge about each workplace and confidence with measure shape and space builds cumulatively as students progress through the levels.

Tasks at Level 1 include calculating area, volume and capacity, converting metric units, measuring angles, calculate using time, using a scale and drawing plans to scale. A student checklist, comprehensive teaching notes and answers are included as well as overhead transparency templates for group work.
