Handling data Level 2

Motivational, functional data handling tasks set in workplace contexts. All the Functional Maths tasks in this resource are set in three workplaces – a hotel, a supermarket and a factory. This helps make the activities both real and relevant to students. Knowledge about each workplace and confidence with handling data builds cumulatively as students progress through the levels.

Tasks at Level 2 include choosing appropriate scale, constructing bar charts, line graphs and pie charts, finding the mean, median, mode and range of a set of data, illustrating the probability of events and using mileage charts. A student checklist, comprehensive teaching notes and answers are included as well as overhead transparency templates for group work.
