Tackling issues
Helping your students deal with real-life decisions
Making sound decisions and choosing appropriate behaviours are essential skills for life. This set of photocopiable resources will help your students develop the strategies, behaviours, and attitudes they need in order to achieve these goals. These teaching materials contain useful tips and reading and writing exercises that guide students through how to handle all sorts of life situations including: dealing with family issues, coping with conflict and anti-social behaviour as well as self-reflection and awareness. Your students will be encouraged to adopt new perspectives which question accepted opinions/perceived wisdom on many of the topics.
Tackling issues provides you with teaching strategies relevant to both Key skills and Basic skills as well as GNVQ and the National Curriculum. These resources contain a range of important and sometimes sensitive issues presented in a mature and balanced way. The activities in the resources look and feel adult-appropriate and are non-patronising. The result is that both teachers and students find the series refreshingly matter-of-fact and extremely engaging.
